Because a healthier Houston benefits everybody

Grant Application

Our role: The Healthy Houston Foundation, Healthy Texas, Healthy America dba Healthy Houston is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation working to improve access to health care for underserved people. Our primary goal is to support the creation of Federally Qualified Health Centers. Federally Qualified Health Centers are nonprofit, community-based clinics that offer preventative, primary care, dental and mental health, laboratory and x-ray, pharmacy, and prenatal and women’s health care services to low-income patients on a sliding scale basis.

Specifically, Healthy Houston offers grants and loans to non-profit clinics, either existing or under development, that offer health care to medically underserved patients. Grants do not need to be repaid while loans must be repaid at low interest to allow for other clinics to use resources at a later date. The amounts of grants and loans vary and are determined by an allocation committee that is independent of the board of the Foundation and experienced in the health care industry. The allocation committee will meet on an ad hoc basis and report its recommendations to the board for approval. The Foundation may elect to contribute its funds to another foundation of like purpose.
